🎓 >50% of Australian Overseas Students Pursue Postgraduate Coursework

Australia hosted 264,073 overseas students in higher education in 2023, with the majority 132,176 enrolled in postgraduate coursework programs. The data reflects Australia’s continued strength as a global education hub, particularly for advanced degrees and professional qualifications. High international enrolment supports university funding and signals strong global demand for Australia’s credentialing pathways. The Australian Strategy for International Education continues to guide sector growth, emphasizing diversification, quality assurance, and long-term student mobility.

⚕️ US Had the Highest Donor Government Funding for HIV

The United States leads donor government funding for HIV patients in lower and middle-income countries in 2024. It remains the largest donor government for HIV programs, a role that is vital for sustaining treatment, prevention, and research in low and middle-income countries where domestic resources are limited. Recent trends show overall donor government funding has plateaued, raising concerns that without sustained US leadership through initiatives like PEPFAR, progress toward global HIV targets could stall. The Global Fund’s Seventh Replenishment aims to counter this, backed by pledges from over 50 countries.

Smart steel manufacturing leads global steel trends in 2024 with 24%, edging out recycled steel at 21%. The focus is shifting toward automation, digitalization, and sustainability, with 3D printing and robotic automation also gaining traction. This aligns with the accelerating push for greener and more efficient industrial production, such as China's rapid expansion of smart foundries and AI-led efficiency programs. The EU’s Net-Zero Industry Act supports this pivot, promoting digital and low-carbon manufacturing across member states.
