⚡ AI needs proof, capital needs patience, talent is reshaping global competition

Hello 👋

The conversations shaping this year’s Back to School Summit point to a shift in the education market. AI is moving from experimentation to accountability, investors are recalibrating expectations around how long value creation takes, and competition for talent is increasingly shaping institutional and national strategy. Three themes stand out—and each has significant market implications.

  • AI is entering its proof phase. Institutions are arriving with a harder question than last year: what has the investment actually delivered? The conversation has moved beyond adoption and experimentation to outcomes, value and evidence of impact.
  • Capital is confronting education’s longer timelines. Investors are reassessing expectations as education businesses demonstrate that sustainable growth and returns often take longer than traditional funding models assume.
  • Talent is becoming a strategic battleground. Student mobility, skills and the ability to attract and retain talent are increasingly connected to national competitiveness—and the consequences are showing up in institutional forecasts.
