✈️ International Student Enrolment in Italy Increased by >50K

By 2023, international student enrolments in Italy surpassed 53,900, up from 29,800 in 2018, driven by affordable tuition and concessionary fees for medicine and arts programmes. Initiatives like Uni‑Italia and MAECI scholarships support mobility, research, and living costs. Combined with rich cultural offerings and English-taught programmes, Italy attracts global talent, though housing shortages and bureaucracy remain key challenges

🍃 US Led in Nuclear Fusion Energy Investments in 2024

By 2024, nuclear fusion investment led by the US and China underscores fusion’s promise as a future low‑carbon power source fit to sustain the growing need for sustainable energy sources, with growing funding and pilot projects aiming for commercialisation by the early 2030s. Premier countries are adapting rapidly through public‑private partnerships and tech leadership, but fusion still faces high R&D costs, plasma stability challenges, and supply chain bottlenecks before grid integration and cost competitiveness can be realised.

🤖 AI Is Poised To Transform the US Economy

By 2025, AI investment in the US is 5% of its GDP and growing at a record pace, comparable to the 5.2% tech boom and approaching the 6.7% housing boom, reflecting intense interest and capital inflows into AI‑driven growth. However, historical booms such as these often end in busts or barren periods when premature investments outpace sustainable demand, essentially creating potential for an AI bubble. To avoid this cycle, the AI industry must prioritise productive use cases, robust regulation and ethical standards, focused skills development, and scalable business models that deliver real economic value rather than speculative hype.
