🏫 Alaska Had the Highest State and Local Funding for K-12
In 2024, Alaska led US states in federal funding for K-12 public education at $4.4K per student. High per-student allocations often reflect geographic challenges, smaller populations, and greater reliance on federal support in rural and remote areas. Such funding is critical for ensuring equitable access to education, particularly where state and local revenues fall short. The US Department of Education’s Title I program continues to direct resources toward underserved schools and communities nationwide.
🍃 US Wind Energy Capacity Up by Nearly 3x
US wind energy capacity grew from 80 GW in 2014 to 359 GW in 2024, marking a more than fourfold increase in a decade. This rapid expansion reflects intensified efforts to decrease carbon footprint, diversify the energy mix, and meet climate commitments. Utility scale wind projects now play a central role in replacing fossil fuel generation. Federal incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act are further accelerating investment in clean energy infrastructure and long-term decarbonization goals.
🏭 EU High Tech Product Sales Increased by >€400B
High tech product sales in the EU rose from €272.6B in 2014 to €406B in 2023, despite a temporary dip during the pandemic years. The strong rebound reflects growing demand for advanced electronics, digital infrastructure, and green technologies. This surge is tied to the EU’s drive for technological sovereignty. Policies under the EU’s Horizon Europe program continue to drive research, development, and commercialization in high tech sectors.
