🎓 Most Apprenticeships in 2022-23 Were in the 25+ Age Group

UK apprenticeship starts grew from 338,000 in 2022 to 340,000 in 2023, driven entirely by the 25+ age group's increasing enrollment. To redirect investment towards younger workers, the government is cutting Level 7 (Master 's-equivalent) funding for those aged 22 and over starting January 2026. This focus on youth and a simultaneous cut of red tape over Maths and English requirements for adult learners over 19 are expected to create up to 10,000 more apprenticeships per year.

🍃 Global Solar PV Investment Reached >$500B

Global annual investment in solar PV surged from $251B in 2021 to $503B in 2024, effectively doubling in just three years. This rapid growth signals solar’s dominance as the preferred clean energy technology, outpacing other generation sources. Rising investment also aligns with industrial demand, as sectors such as advanced manufacturing and data centers push for stable green energy supplies. The IEA’s Net Zero Roadmap calls for continued solar investment as a cornerstone of decarbonization strategies.

🏭 The US Led in Installed Geothermal Capacity

The United States leads geothermal energy with almost 4,000 MW of installed capacity, with Indonesia and the Philippines also investing heavily. Growth in geothermal provides a stable renewable source that can directly support advanced manufacturing, where consistent energy demand is critical. By powering industries such as semiconductors and precision engineering with low carbon baseload energy, geothermal strengthens clean industrial supply chains. The US Inflation Reduction Act highlight this integration of renewable energy with manufacturing expansion.
