## ✈️**Taking Off: Electric Aviation's Past Year in Review**

HolonIQ Electric Aircraft Index: The index has posted an increase of almost 30% in the year to January 2024\. Various external factors, such as technology, certification processes, and research and development challenges, contributed to the observed trends. During this period, notable events included RTX (Raytheon Technologies Corporation) on October 4, 2023, successfully demonstrating the operation of semiconductors and advanced software algorithms that control power and can interrupt extreme currents faster. In addition, Joby Aviation, a startup founded in 2009, secured a $55 million contract from the U.S. Department of Defense on the last week of April 2023, a deal that will allow the company to put its aircraft into customers' hands and start generating revenue before it has achieved Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification.
