## **🏫** Germany's School Leavers Declined by Over 70K

Germany saw a decline of over 70K school leavers from 2015 to 2022, reflecting demographic shifts and impacting future labor supply. To address this, the government launched the [Starting Opportunities Programme (Startchancen-Programm)](https://eurydice.eacea.ec.europa.eu/eurypedia/germany/national-reforms-school-education?ref=newsletters.qs.com), boosting education in disadvantaged schools, and the [Digital Pact 2.0](https://national-policies.eacea.ec.europa.eu/youthwiki/chapters/germany/610-current-debates-and-reforms?ref=newsletters.qs.com) for Schools to enhance digital infrastructure and skills. These policies aim to improve educational equity and prepare students for a digital economy.

## 🍃 Brazil Had 40% More Wind Energy Jobs Than India

[![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f1/d4/f1d411df-6f49-4c75-a302-f8c9e9f59495/content/images/2025/05/HolonIQ_Renewable_energy_employment_by_technology_in_Brazil_and_India_2023_Thousands_of_Employees_HCHYZLW1X8EV1E8251QZ.png)](https://index.holoniq.com/charts/HCHYZLW1X8EV1E8251QZ/Renewable-energy-employment-by-technology-in-Brazil-and-China%252C-2023-%28Thousands-of-Jobs%29?ref=newsletters.qs.com)

In 2023, India led in hydropower and solar photovoltaic (PV) employment, while Brazil’s wind energy sector employed over 40% more people than India’s. This was driven by supportive policies such as [Brazil’s Offshore Wind Development Law](https://www.gov.br/planalto/en/latest-news/2025/01/president-lula-signs-law-creating-renewable-energy-generation-from-offshore-wind-turbines?ref=newsletters.qs.com#:~:text=President%20Luiz%20In%C3%A1cio%20Lula%20da%20Silva%20signed%20Bill%20of%20Law,platforms%20anchored%20in%20the%20seabed.), which encourages investment and job creation. India’s leadership in solar PV employment stemmed from ambitious targets and initiatives like the [Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme](https://mnre.gov.in/en/production-linked-incentive-pli/?ref=newsletters.qs.com), which promotes domestic manufacturing and job growth. Both countries demonstrate strong government commitment to expanding renewable energy.

In May 2023, less than 10% of adults in Great Britain reported using AI "a lot," reflecting limited AI awareness despite the growing sector value. To boost adoption, the UK government launched the National [AI Strategy and Action Plan](https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/614db4ecd3bf7f7187208500/National%5FAI%5FStrategy%5F%5Fmobile%5Fversion%5F.pdf?ref=newsletters.qs.com), investing over $1.3B to support AI innovation and integration. Additionally, the [Digital Inclusion Action Plan: First Steps (2025)](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/digital-inclusion-action-plan-first-steps?ref=newsletters.qs.com) aims to improve digital skills and access, addressing awareness gaps and promoting wider AI use.
