Olympus Corporation [launched](https://www.biospectrumasia.com/news/101/24970/japanese-medtech-firm-olympus-introduces-new-imaging-platform-visera-s.html?ref=newsletters.qs.com) VISERA S, and Olympus plans to launch VISERA S in Europe, parts of Asia, and Oceania. 🩹 **Acumen Pharmaceuticals extended its** [**partnership**](https://pharmaceuticalmanufacturer.media/pharma-manufacturing-news/new-drug-development-approvals-regulatory-news/acumen-and-lonza-expand-collaboration-alzheimer-drug/?ref=newsletters.qs.com) **with Lonza.** The partnership aimed to enable the potential future commercial launch of its monoclonal antibody. 

🎗️ **Roche to** [**acquire**](https://www.biopharmadive.com/news/roche-regor-cdk-breast-cancer-drug-deal/728410/?ref=newsletters.qs.com) **two experimental breast cancer drugs from Regor Therapeutics for $850M.** The drugs are being developed as next-generation CDK inhibitors, where one of its candidates has shown promising results in early-stage trials.

🩺 **Nxera Pharma** [**partners** ](https://www.thepharmaletter.com/nxera-pharma-and-shionogi-partner-on-quviviq?ref=newsletters.qs.com)**with Shionogi to distribute and sell Quviviq in Japan.** Quviviq secured approval for an insomnia drug in Japan, and this partnership will allow Shionogi to handle the distribution and sales of Quviviq solely in the Japanese market.

## 🧬 Biotechnology   

🔬 **Bristol Myers Squibb** [**agreed** ](https://www.pharmaceutical-technology.com/news/bms-and-prime-ink-potential-3-5bn-deal-to-develop-t-cell-therapies/?cf-view&ref=newsletters.qs.com)**to a research and licensing deal with Prime Medicine.** The deal allows the development of ex vivo T-cell therapies. Prime Medicine will design gene editing reagents based on its PASSIGE technology, and BMS will take these to develop ex vivo T-cell therapies.

🩸**CSL Behring**[ **received** ](https://www.thepharmaletter.com/spanish-reimbursement-for-csls-hemgenix?ref=newsletters.qs.com)**a positive recommendation from the Spanish Interministerial Commission on the Pricing of Medicines (CIPM).** Hemgenix is a one-time gene therapy approved for adults with severe and moderately severe hemophilia B. 

🧪 **The number of clinical trials of new drugs in Russia has** [**decreased**](https://www.thepharmaletter.com/russia-faces-ne-wave-of-drop-in-clinical-trials-for-new-drugs?ref=newsletters.qs.com) **by 26.4% year-on-year.** This decline is likely due to reduced investment activities in the local pharmaceutical market.

🧫 **Kailera Therapeutics** raised [$400M](https://www.finsmes.com/2024/10/kailera-therapeutics-launches-with-400m-in-series-a-financing.html?ref=newsletters.qs.com) in a Series A funding round. The company plans to use the funds to grow and develop its business.

🔬 **Aktis Oncology**, a clinical-stage biotechnology company, closed a [$175M](https://www.finsmes.com/2024/09/aktis-oncology-raises-175m-in-series-b-funding.html?ref=newsletters.qs.com) Series B financing. The funds will help advance its differentiated radiopharmaceuticals pipeline.

🧪 **Mirai Bio**, a MA-based bioplatform innovation company, raised [$50M](https://www.finsmes.com/2024/09/mirai-bio-raises-50m-in-initial-funding.html?ref=newsletters.qs.com). The funds will be used to advance its platform for genetic medicine development across a wide range of therapeutic areas and modalities.

The funds will accelerate its ongoing expansion in Asia, further consolidating its position as a global market player in travel health.
