🎓 Hungary’s Tertiary Educational Units Declined From 2012-2022

Hungary’s tertiary educational institutions decreased slightly from 66 in 2013 to 63 in 2022, showing a decade long consolidation trend. This stabilization follows earlier mergers aimed at improving efficiency and research quality. The trend mirrors broader European efforts to optimize higher education networks and align programs with labour market needs. Hungary’s Higher Education Strategy 2030 continues to guide reforms, focusing on digitalization and stronger cooperation between universities and industry.

⚕️ Decline in Child Psychologists in Japan From 2018-2023

Japan certified 1.4K new public psychologists in 2023, a sharp drop from 16K in 2022. The decline contrasts earlier expansion as mental health gained national focus post pandemic. Rising stress levels among students and workers have increased demand for trained professionals, yet certification rates are slowing. To address shortages, Japan’s Ministry of Health and Education continues expanding mental health support programs in schools and workplaces to strengthen the national mental wellness infrastructure.

🤖 Netherlands Led European Countries in Digitial Skills

The Netherlands is at the forefront of European digital proficiency, with 82.7% of its population possessing digital skills. This figure represents a notable increase from 79% in 2021 and anchors a strong regional trend, closely followed by Finland and Norway. The Dutch success stems from proactively mandating digital literacy education within the national curriculum. To elevate digital competence across the continent and address this skills gap, the European Commission has implemented the comprehensive Digital Education Action Plan.
