👶 Netherlands Had the Highest ECE Participation

Early childhood education and care participation among under-threes reached 71.5% in the Netherlands and 70% in Denmark in 2023, far above the EU average. Rates remain strong in Luxembourg, Norway and France, showing a steady upward trend in northern and western Europe. Southern countries like Spain and Portugal are closing gaps, while Finland and Estonia lag. Accessibility and resource shortages remain as barriers to improving participation. The EU Child Guarantee (European Commission) seeks to boost access and equity across member states.
⚕️ Africa led in Adolescent Births

The African region recorded the highest adolescent birth rate in 2024 at around 94 births per 1,000 girls, while Europe and the Western Pacific reported the lowest at 15.5. This wide gap highlights persistent inequalities in education, health access and social outcomes for young women. Higher rates often align with limited schooling and workforce participation, constraining future opportunities. WHO’s Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s, and Adolescents’ Health continues to address these disparities.
🤖 Number of Organizations Using AI Quadrupled

The percentage of organizations using AI has nearly quadrupled in 7 years, rising to 78% in 2024. This rapid integration highlights a growing trend of companies leveraging AI for efficiency. As AI takes on more routine tasks, more than half the CEOs claim that they believe AI will replace jobs. To manage this evolution, the EU AI Act has been implemented by the European Parliament and Council to ensure responsible and ethical use of the technology.
