✈️ Nigerian Full-Time Student Flow to the UK Decreased by >20%

Between 2022 and 2023, the number of Nigerian full-time students moving to the UK decreased by over 20%. Nigeria’s heavy reliance on crude oil has made its economy vulnerable to global price fluctuations and domestic production shocks. The removal of fuel subsidies, combined with the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, caused the naira to depreciate sharply. Initially, UK study enrolments increased due to the Graduate Visa and dependent visa options, with students seeking a stable future. But recent UK immigration policy changes restricting dependents have significantly reduced new student inflows.

🍃 The Netherlands Led Green Energy Usage Globally

The Netherlands leads global green energy consumption at nearly 172TW, followed by Germany and Spain. The data shows a strong European dominance, reflecting consistent regional investment in renewable grids and offshore wind. Outside Europe, the US and Japan trail amid policy shifts toward clean technology incentives. The EU Green Deal and REPowerEU plan continue driving the region’s renewable transition.

🤖 Brazil and India Led in AI Usage by Residents

Brazil and India lead global AI adoption, with 85% of residents using AI technologies, followed by South Africa at 80%. AI usage has spread rapidly as a source of instant access to information. The data highlights a rapid uptake in emerging economies, where mobile first access and generative tools drive widespread use. Growing adoption is shaping education and workforce reskilling under UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework initiatives.
