🏫 Majority of Americans Opposed Eliminating the US Department of Education

In June 2025, 53% of Americans strongly opposed eliminating the US Department of Education, with only 22% expressing support. The data suggests strong public concern over maintaining federal oversight in education policy and funding. This aligns with ongoing debates around equity in schooling and access to federal student aid. The Department’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) remains central in ensuring accountability and support for disadvantaged schools nationwide.

🍃 Solar Reached Nearly 25% of India’s Electricity Capacity

In 2024, coal accounted for 47% of India’s installed electricity capacity, while solar and wind together made up 35%. This reflects a steady transition from fossil fuels toward clean energy, with solar emerging as the fastest-growing source. The trend mirrors India’s broader climate commitments and rising energy demand. Policies such as the National Solar Mission have been key drivers, accelerating renewable adoption and supporting India’s target of 50% non-fossil capacity by 2030.

⚕️ Europe Had the Lowest Fertility Rates

In 2024, Africa recorded the highest average fertility rate at 4.14, while Europe had the lowest at 1.69. The sharp regional contrasts often reflect disparities in access to education, particularly for women and girls. Studies show that higher educational attainment is closely linked to lower fertility, as seen in Europe and North America. The UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report underscores this link, stressing investment in universal education as a driver of demographic stability.
