🎓 Unemployment Was 5% Higher For Those Without a Diploma than for PhDs in 2024

Unemployment in the US falls sharply with higher educational attainment, dropping from over 5% for those without a high school diploma to just above 1% for advanced degree holders. The gradient highlights how educational attainment remains one of the strongest predictors of job security. These patterns reflect employers’ continued demand for specialised skills, especially in knowledge-driven sectors. The trend also supports ongoing efforts to expand workforce training under the National Skills Coalition initiatives.
🍃 China’s Carbon Footprint Was Nearly 3x Higher Than the US

China generated nearly one-third of global CO2 emissions in 2022, far ahead of the United States and India. The distribution shows how a small group of major economies drives most of the world’s carbon footprint. Rising emissions in rapidly industrialising regions also signal growing pressure on global climate targets. Some of the expectations from COP30 were unmet, with countries unable to reach consensus on reducing emissions from fossil fuels. These patterns signal for stronger mitigation measures which need to be taken by the UNFCCC.
🤖 IT/Services and Manufacturing Tops Global AI Usage by Industry

AI usage in 2024 was led by manufacturing and IT services, each accounting for over 10% of global deployment. Healthcare, life sciences, aerospace, and high-tech sectors followed with moderate adoption. AI usage is growing worldwide, becoming an integral part of business operations, research, and everyday technology. Growing demand for AI-ready talent is pushing institutions to expand technical training through national digital skills initiatives.
