🎓 India’s Higher Education Sector at 40% of Total Education Budget

India’s higher-education budget held close to 40% of total education spending between 2021 and 2024, rising steadily alongside expanding enrolments and institutional upgrades. Recent government initiatives include the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) to unify regulation, expansion of multidisciplinary universities under the National Education Policy, and increased funding for digital learning platforms like Swayam and virtual labs to strengthen access and quality across states.

⚕️ Critical Surgery Cost in the US Reaches Nearly $90K

The US had the highest coronary bypass surgery costs at nearly $90K in 2024, with insurance premiums surging, driven by expiring ACA subsidies leading to rising hospital costs. Compounding affordability crises, "One Big Beautiful Bill" slashing $1.1T from Medicaid over 10 years made it the largest healthcare rollback in US history, leaving 12M more uninsured by 2034. Hospitals face 18% Medicaid funding losses, threatening 300+ rural hospital closures. Combined, escalating insurance costs and federal budget cuts create unprecedented barriers to affordable healthcare access.

🏭 NASA Faces Continued Funding Constraints

NASA's latest budget allocation represents nearly one-third of its Apollo 11-era peak, reflecting significant restructuring under spending caps. Budget cuts forced tough choices, as many projects were cancelled or capped. New projects include establishing the Gateway lunar station by 2028, Moon to Mars architecture adopting fission power for Martian surface operations and lunar cargo landers, and the Europa Clipper mission studying Jupiter's icy moon. Despite restructuring challenges, NASA advances Commercial Lunar Payload Services, space technology R&D, and sustainable exploration frameworks.
