👶 Korean childcare enrolment reached nearly 70%

Formal childcare enrolment for children under 3 reached high levels in South Korea in 2023, reflecting strong government support for early childhood services. The high rate is driven by extensive public childcare provision and policies aimed at supporting working parents. Widespread access to early childcare supports child development while enabling higher workforce participation, especially among women. National childcare policies continue to expand affordability and coverage.

🍃 Ammonia emissions in the EU declined

Ammonia emissions across the EU have fallen steadily from 2017 to 2022. Stricter agricultural regulations, improved fertiliser management, and adoption of sustainable farming practices. Reduced emissions support air quality and environmental goals while meeting climate commitments. The EU’s National Emission Ceilings Directive, implemented by the European Commission, guides member states in limiting ammonia and other pollutant outputs.

🏭 NVIDIA’s Hopper GPU shipments to tech companies

Microsoft leads global purchases of Nvidia Hopper AI accelerator chips in 2024 with 485K units, more than double the next buyers, ByteDance and Tencent. The high volume reflects Microsoft’s investment in AI cloud infrastructure and large-scale AI model training. Such purchases highlight the growing strategic importance of AI hardware for computing and services. The US CHIPS and Science Act implemented by the US Government supports domestic semiconductor production and advanced AI hardware development.
