πŸŽ“ New Apprenticeship Enrolment in the UK Less by >30%

Apprenticeship enrolments in the UK declined by over 30% between 2016 and 2023, largely due to the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy. The policy imposed a 0.5% payroll levy on large employers, and the government provides funding for smaller businesses. This created Complexity and Confusion among employers, leading to a reduction in their willingness or ability to offer apprenticeship programs. Additionally, a shift toward higher-level apprenticeships with stricter academic criteria decreased opportunities for younger students, contributing further to the overall decline in new entrants.

βš•οΈ Finland has the Highest Number of Nurses per 1,000 People

In 2024, Finland reported 22.3 nurses and midwives per 1,000 people, reflecting a strong investment in healthcare staffing. High nurse-to-population ratios are closely linked to improved patient outcomes, reduced burnout, and greater system resilience, especially in aging societies. Sustained workforce planning is becoming a strategic priority across advanced health systems. A global shortage of nurses and midwives remains a critical challenge, driven by aging populations, workforce burnout, and uneven training pipelines across regions.

Between 2016 and 2024, the US passed nearly 30 AI-related bills, more than any other country, followed by Portugal and Russia. However, the US still lacks a comprehensive federal AI law, relying instead on a patchwork of federal and state measures to regulate AI. While the Biden administration emphasized safe and trustworthy AI development, the new Trump administration reversed course, issuing an Executive Order promoting a more permissive, innovation-first approach to AI regulation by removing previous restrictions.
