👶 ECE enrolment in China experienced a slight decline following growth

Early childhood education enrolment in China dropped by 3.7% in 2023 to 46.3M, reflecting demographic shifts following a decade of growth as China experiences a fall in birth rates. Thousands of kindergartens were reportedly closed due to lower demand. In response, policies aim to transform excess kindergartens into childcare centres for children under three. A tax exemption for parents with young children was also introduced to ease financial burdens and support long-term population goals.
🍃 GHG emissions were a key concern for concert-goers

Global concerts generate up to 5M tonnes of CO₂ annually, with transportation accounting for the majority of emissions. In South Korea, greenhouse gas management ranks fourth among concert fan priorities after engagement, venue safety, and accessibility. Major K-pop agencies are now pursuing ESG goals to minimise their environmental impact. Major global initiatives include artists like Coldplay pledging emission cuts, solar-battery systems, Glastonbury's fossil-free energy programme, and zero-plastic policies at concerts.
⚕️ Demand for nurses in the NHS continued to grow as registrations increased

The number of NHS registered nurses grew by nearly 50,000 between 2022 and 2025, driven by post-pandemic recovery demands, ageing populations, and government targets. However, the overall nursing job market seems to be in distress as training problems persist, with many nurses considering quitting over financial pressures. Critical shortages affect sectors such as mental health, emergency medicine, and geriatrics. The solution of excessive reliance on international recruitment has raised ethical concerns about depleting low-income countries of qualified medical staff.
