🎓 Increasing focus on sustainability programmes in UAE universities

Sustainability programmes in UAE universities in 2025 range from 2 to 6, led by the University of Sharjah. The spread reflects growing academic focus on environmental challenges across institutions. These programmes are closely linked to regional priorities such as desalination, where water scarcity drives demand for sustainable technologies. As desalination expands, universities are aligning courses with skills in energy efficiency, water management, and environmental engineering. This supports rising job demand in sustainability sectors. The UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy implemented by the Government of the United Arab Emirates, promotes green skills development.

⚕️ Sweden’s government health spending reached nearly 10% of GDP

Sweden’s government health spending reached nearly 10% of GDP in 2023, though small island nations such as Tuvalu, Nauru, and the Marshall Islands rank higher due to very small GDP bases. In Sweden, an ageing population is a key challenge, with around 26% of the health budget directed toward long-term elderly care, among the highest globally. The country also had a cost cap on prescription drugs, and the government covers part of it. While Sweden has a high number of physicians and strong healthcare outcomes, this system is funded through some of the world’s highest income tax rates.

🏭 Denmark reached nearly 100% of renewable energy integration

Renewable energy in Denmark reached nearly 100% of net electricity generation in 2025, nearly full system coverage. This reflects long term investment in wind energy and grid integration. This high renewable base supports advanced manufacturing by providing stable, low carbon power for energy intensive industries and green production processes. It also attracts clean tech manufacturing and innovation. Strong infrastructure and policy alignment enable this transition. The Energy Agreement implemented by the Government of Denmark supports renewable expansion and industrial decarbonisation.
